Donald Trump addressed the nation in primetime from the East Room of the White House with a nearly half-hour speech focused entirely on national security and election integrity. With the midterm elections approaching, the president took an unprecedented step, announcing the declassification of intelligence reports that he said showed "shocking weaknesses" in American voting systems.
-Attack against Beijing and data theft
The gist of the speech was a scathing attack on China. Trump detailed the accusations, citing specific figures to support his argument. He said that over 220 million American voters' records had been hacked by China since the 2020 election.
"220 million voter records: According to the president, this would be the largest election data breach in history, carried out by Beijing starting with the 2020 election cycle. The files reportedly contain the names, addresses, phone numbers and political preferences of American citizens ," Trump said.
The president did not spare harsh accusations against the US national security apparatus, claiming that the heads of agencies such as the CIA and FBI knew about the extent of the breach in at least 18 countries as early as 2020, but deliberately chose to keep the information secret to protect a specific political narrative. Trump then formally asked the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security to launch an internal investigation to identify and prosecute officials responsible for what he called a “deep state” cover-up.
"They tried to hide everything ," Trump said.
-Pressure on electoral reform
Taking advantage of prime-time television coverage, the White House chief of staff made a powerful appeal to Congress, and especially the Senate, to unblock the passage of the "Save America" Act. The bill, strongly supported by the president, aims to introduce a federal requirement to prove citizenship to register to vote and drastically limit the use of mail-in voting. According to Trump, anyone who opposes this measure is "simply trying to cheat" in the upcoming elections in November.

Demokratët theksuan gjithashtu se akuzat për votim të paligjshëm nga jo-qytetarët janë "një problem joekzistent dhe i pavërtetuar", i krijuar qëllimisht vetëm për të mbuluar dështimet e administratës republikane në frontet e kostos së jetesës dhe të politikës së jashtme.

On the other, the moderate wing of Republicans is building a wall of resistance, loudly demanding that the president focus on the cost of living and the economy, in a desperate attempt to stop what many are already describing as a potential Democratic victory.
