American media have revealed the details of the agreement that the United States and Iran will sign in the coming hours.

The agreement includes a 60-day extension of the ceasefire, during which the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, where Iran will be able to sell oil freely, and negotiations will take place to limit Iran's nuclear program, reports the American media Axios .

However, the newspaper writes, it is unclear whether this will lead to a lasting peace agreement that also addresses President Trump's nuclear demands. Moreover, according to Axios, the agreement would also stop Israel's war in Lebanon, an aspect that has reportedly worried Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The White House hopes that the remaining differences will be resolved in the coming hours and that a deal will be announced today. The two sides will sign a 60-day memorandum of understanding, which can be extended by mutual agreement.

During the 60-day period, the Strait of Hormuz would be opened to traffic duty-free and Iran would agree to clear the strait of mines. In return, the United States would lift its blockade of Iranian ports and grant some sanctions waivers to allow Iran to sell its oil freely.

According to the official quoted by Axios, Iran wanted the funds released immediately and the sanctions lifted permanently, but the United States said that would happen only after concrete concessions were made. Nuclear issues are still under negotiation: the draft memorandum includes a commitment by Iran to never pursue the development of nuclear weapons and to negotiate a suspension of its uranium enrichment program and the removal of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, the US official said. According to two well-informed sources, Iran has offered the United States, through intermediaries, verbal commitments regarding the scope of concessions it is willing to make regarding the suspension of enrichment and the relinquishment of nuclear material.

The United States would agree to negotiate the lifting of sanctions and the release of Iranian funds during the 60-day period, although these measures would only be implemented as part of a final agreement, the actual implementation of which is verifiable. The US forces mobilized in recent months would remain in the region for a period of 60 days and would only withdraw if a final agreement is reached.

The draft also clarifies that the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon would end. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed concern about this during a phone call with Trump on Tuesday, an Israeli official said. However, if Hezbollah were to attempt to rearm or launch attacks, Israel would be authorized to act to prevent it, the US official said.

After signing a preliminary agreement, expected to be called the "Islamabad Declaration," delegations from Washington and Tehran could hold a new round of more in-depth talks on June 5, according to Saudi media platform Al Arabiya on its Arabic website, citing "high-level sources." The preliminary memorandum of understanding, according to the same sources, will be announced by Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator, "without the need for the parties involved to be present."

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said "significant progress" has been made in talks with Iran, but there is still "work to be done."

Rubio hints that US President Donald Trump will be notified later today as more details emerge from Tehran and Washington.

"I think it's possible that, within a few hours, the world will hear some good news," US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters in New Delhi, referring to ongoing negotiations with the US.
