A serious incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at one of the dormitories of Oklahoma State University (OSU), where several people were injured by gunfire. Campus police announced that the incident occurred around 03:40 in the morning in the residential building "Carreker East".
OSU Police Chief Michael Beckner confirmed that at least one student was among the injured. The victims were transported to hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa for treatment, but there was no immediate word on their condition.
According to local media, including KOCO-TV, three people were hospitalized as a result of the incident. Authorities confirmed that there is no active threat to the public, reassuring the university community and surrounding residents.
Police did not provide details on whether anyone was arrested or whether the suspected perpetrators were among the injured. Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred after a private party off campus, the participants of which then returned to the dormitory, where the shooting later occurred.
Authorities are continuing investigations to clarify the motives and circumstances of the incident.
