United States President Donald Trump has shared an image on the Truth Social platform showing a giant gold eagle on the Truman Balcony of the White House.
In the post he wrote that "A golden gift to the White House for its 250th anniversary!" .
Later, the photo was also published by the official White House account on the X social network.
However, several elements of the image have raised doubts about its authenticity. The Truman Balcony appears slightly different from the real thing, and the shield next to the eagle features 11 stars rather than 13, representing the original colonies upon which the United States was founded.
According to data included in the photo file, the image was created using Google's artificial intelligence tools. This metadata contains digital content credentials that identify how it was created.
Meanwhile, freelance photographer Andrew Leyden released photos taken at the Truman Balcony around 9:30 p.m. Monday, after Trump's tweet was published. The images do not show any structure resembling a giant eagle. The White House has not yet commented on the matter.
Since returning to office in 2025, Trump has made several changes to the White House grounds. These include adding gold trim to the Oval Office and the presidential residence, renovating the Rose Garden, installing new flagpoles, and building a new banquet hall.
