The US president has reiterated his doubts about the possibility of sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

According to Trump, the war should end without the use of Tomahawk missiles.

"I hope they won't need them. I hope we can end the war without thinking about the Tomahawks. These are great weapons, but also very dangerous: an escalation could lead to very bad things," Trump said.

A few minutes earlier, Zelensky had said that his country would need American missiles to stop the Russian invasion and expressed his willingness to provide the US with the drones with which Kiev has become one of the leading countries in the world.

Meanwhile, Corriere della Sera writes that the meeting between Trump and Zelensky was not an easy one.

No one has raised their voices, but Trump has been harsh, according to a source at Axios.

Trump reportedly made some “strong statements during the meeting and at times the situation became somewhat emotional.” Zelensky did not receive the long-range Tomahawk missiles or other weapons that the Ukrainians had requested.

After two and a half hours, Trump abruptly ended the meeting: “We’re done, let’s see what happens next week.” He then left the White House and headed to Florida, without speaking to reporters, posting a message on his social network Truth, where he wrote that the meeting with Zelensky had been “very interesting and friendly, but I told him, as I have warmly suggested to President Putin, that it is time to stop the killing and make a deal! ... They must stop where they are, so that both can be declared winners, and let History decide!”

The Ukrainian leader, speaking at a brief press conference outside the White House, immediately commented on Trump's post, stating that he agreed with it. At a stop in Florida, where he will spend the weekend, the US president reiterated that the conflict in Ukraine must be de-escalated (freeze, stop) along the "current fighting line."

After meeting with Trump, Zelensky called European leaders, including Italy: during that conversation, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer suggested formulating a peace proposal for Ukraine modeled after Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte suggested organizing a follow-up call between the Alliance's security advisers over the weekend.

Overnight, in an interview with NBC television, Zelensky said he still hopes that Trump will supply Kiev with Tomahawk missiles in the future. Trump “didn’t say no,” the Ukrainian president explained, but it’s just that “he didn’t say yes today.” Zelensky expressed confidence that Putin is “very afraid of Tomahawks.”
