Protests escalate in Greece, farmers clash with police; several injured

Tensions have been recorded at the farmers' protest being held this Sunday in Greece.

Greek media reports that farmers clashed with police and broke through the latter's blockade with tractors and their agricultural equipment.

As a result, they have blocked the Athens-Thessaloniki road, while it is reported that in order to disperse them, police forces have fired tear gas and chemical materials.

As a result of the clashes, some of them were injured and were taken to the hospital for medical assistance.

Local media report that farmers' protests are escalating, while stating that their protests will continue against rising production costs, low prices, and delays in payments.

Three arrested and two police officers injured

According to ELAS, two people were arrested in Platykambos, Larissa, one is accused of violence against officials and damage to the property of others and resistance, while the second is accused of damage to the property of others.

The third arrest took place at the Nikaia intersection and concerns bodily harm, violence against officials and judicial officials, and resistance. Two police officers were injured in the attacks at the scene and were taken to hospital for first aid.
