"US-Iran pact very close", Pakistan: Talks focused on nuclear issue

Throughout the US-Iran war, Pakistan has been a key mediator between Washington and Tehran and continues to be so. Despite the failure of previous talks, Pakistan remains confident that the parties will reach an agreement soon.

In a statement issued by the Pakistani foreign ministry, there is talk of optimism and real possibilities for achieving peace in the region.

"We expect an agreement as soon as possible. We hope that the parties will reach a peaceful and sustainable solution that will contribute not only to peace in our region, but also to international peace," spokesman Tahir Andrabi said today.

Andrabi did not give a timeline, adding that Pakistan would not disclose details of ongoing diplomatic efforts.

" What I can tell you, and this is what I have said before, is that we remain positive, we remain optimistic and we hope that the solution will happen soon ," he added.

All of this reflects what Pakistani negotiators told him earlier, that progress has been made towards the idea of a "one-page deal" between the US and Iran, focusing on the nuclear issue and the Strait of Hormuz.
