US President Donald Trump has explained the reasons behind his change of heart towards Iran's leaders. A reporter asked Trump at the end of the NATO Summit why he had previously described Iran's leaders as "very rational people" before calling them "scum" today.
The American president said that he truly thinks they are more rational, but according to him, the actions of the last two weeks have made him change his mind, and even added that he is now considering not making any more deals with them.
" I think they're more rational, but based on their actions over the last week or two, they're not doing the people [of Iran] any favors. And I think more than anything else, I got to know that and I'm not sure I want to make a deal with them. We can play games, but I'm not sure I want to make a deal. Let's get the job done ," Trump said.
The US president was then asked about oil prices and whether they are on the verge of a return to full-scale conflict. Trump turned the question around to focus his answer on the US's ultimate red line with Iran: no nuclear weapons for Tehran.
The US president claimed that there is a "surplus of oil right now" and that Washington had its eyes on Iran's nuclear material.
