Macedonian Prime Minister: Law students can take the exam in Albanian
Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski stated that law students have the right to take the jurisprudence exam in Albanian, if they request it.

According to him, the Law on the Use of Languages clearly regulates this issue and leaves no room for other interpretation. Mickoski emphasized that any request to take the exam in Albanian must be accepted by the relevant institutions.

"The law on languages is clear in this case. If someone requests to take the exam in Albanian, they should be allowed to do so," Mickoski declared.

This statement comes after students of the Faculty of Law submitted a petition to several state institutions, including the Ministry of Justice, the Inspectorate for the Use of Languages, the Agency for the Implementation of Languages, the Parliament and the Government, requesting that the jurisprudence exam be organized in the Albanian language as well.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Justice has clarified that the Law on the Bar Examination currently provides for its conduct only in the Macedonian language. This discrepancy between the laws has fueled political debates, including clashes between the ruling Albanian parties and the opposition.

The issue remains open for institutional resolution, while students await a concrete response on the realization of their request.
