US-Iran deal confirmed, Trump shares plan with allies and Israel

Following Axios' report, both Reuters and The Guardian confirm that Washington and Tehran have reached a draft agreement on the ceasefire, Hormuz and nuclear negotiations. Final approval from Donald Trump is still missing.

International media outlets are confirming one after another the existence of a draft agreement between the United States and Iran to extend the ceasefire and launch negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program.

Following Axios' initial reporting, both Reuters and The Guardian report that a preliminary agreement has been reached between the parties, although US President Donald Trump has not yet given final approval.

According to The Guardian, Trump has distributed the draft agreement to US allies, including Israel, as diplomatic efforts are being made to avoid new ceasefire violations that could destabilize the situation.

The British newspaper writes that the draft does not differ much from the versions that have been circulating in the Middle East in recent days. The document envisages the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, the lifting of the US blockade of Iranian ports and the unblocking of up to $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

The objective of the plan is to restore commercial traffic in Hormuz to pre-conflict levels within 30 days and to launch negotiations on the future of Iran's nuclear program within 60 days.

The negotiations will include discussions on enriched uranium stocks, the temporary suspension of enrichment, and supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

According to the draft, Iran would commit to giving up nuclear weapons.

Reuters also confirmed that an understanding between the parties has been reached, but that the "green light" from Donald Trump is still missing.

The Guardian notes that the current content of the agreement is expected to face serious opposition from Israel, as it postpones Iran's binding commitments on the nuclear issue and includes a permanent ceasefire that also extends to Lebanon.

According to the report, the draft is less clear regarding the lifting of sanctions on Iranian exports of oil and petrochemical products, but clearly establishes the principle of "tariff-free navigation" in the Strait of Hormuz.

In an effort to accelerate negotiations, Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, is expected to travel to Washington for meetings with US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
