Former Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazović, has commented publicly for the first time on speculation circulating on social networks regarding intimate videos of Mirjana Pajković, former director of the Directorate for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in Montenegro.
During a television interview, the moderator provocatively asked him if he could have been involved in any of the recordings that have caused great debate in regional public opinion. Abazović immediately denied this.
"There's nothing. I'm not there," he declared calmly and with a smile.
The moderator continued by asking if he felt concerned about the possibility of other compromising materials being published, but the former prime minister stated that there was no reason for concern.
"I know very well how these things work. I've been through a lot and I don't want to talk too much about this topic," Abazovic said.
He added that over the years in politics he had come to understand the ways in which, according to him, organized crime groups try to exert pressure or compromise public figures.
"I understood immediately what the organized crime people wanted to do. This is part of their methods," he declared.
Following the interview, Abazović said that the fact that he had not been a "family man" for years had been an advantage in dealing with such personal and political attacks.
Asked if he still felt "on top of the situation," he reacted by spreading his arms and saying:
"Always on top of the situation. I'm very, very pleased."
At the end of the conversation, the moderator asked him directly if he felt comfortable about the issue of recordings, and Abazović answered briefly:
"I'm completely relaxed, I'm enjoying everything."
The scandal involving Mirjana Pajković's intimate videos has attracted a lot of attention in Montenegro and beyond. According to Montenegrin media reports, one of the materials allegedly features Dejan Vukšić, former director of the National Security Agency and currently an advisor to Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović.
The case has sparked numerous political and media reactions in the region, while Pajković herself has previously stated that the videos were published without her consent.
