Moments of panic were recorded on a Frontier Airlines flight bound for Chicago after a passenger attempted to open the plane's emergency door, tried to enter the cockpit and then attacked an off-duty flight attendant.
According to US authorities, the suspect has been identified as Juan Gabriel Reyes, 51, who already faces charges of obstructing the crew and physical assault during the flight.
The incident occurred about 45 minutes after the plane had taken off from San Juan, Puerto Rico, bound for O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.
According to court documents, Reyes began screaming that he wanted to get off the plane and attempted to open the emergency door during the flight.

After the stewards stopped him, he approached the cockpit and began aggressively hitting its door with his shoulder, causing an alarm on board.
A crew member managed to calmly remove him from the area, but the situation escalated again when the 51-year-old entered the toilet and attempted to urinate on the floor.
He was then escorted to his seat, while an off-duty steward, who was sitting next to him as a passenger, offered to switch seats.
According to investigators, at that moment Reyes jumped on her, grabbed her by the head and began to strangle her.
Several passengers immediately intervened along with the crew to neutralize the aggressor. They used plastic handcuffs to immobilize him, although he managed to break free several times during the attempts to keep him under control.
Authorities are investigating the incident, while the 51-year-old faces serious federal charges for his behavior during the flight.
