EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas spoke in Brussels after today's meeting of the bloc's defense and foreign ministers.
She says her job and that of other diplomats seeking to end the war in Ukraine is to do everything they can to support the victim, not to reward aggression.
"The goal is to have a just and lasting peace, not an agreement that prepares the ground for the next war ," she said.
Kallas also spoke about the resignation of Zelensky's close aide, Andriy Yermak, after his home was raided by anti-corruption police last week.
She says that especially during wartime, trust matters and that Ukraine's fight for freedom and its path to Europe must not be tarnished.
"The fact that investigations are taking place shows that the anti-corruption bodies in Ukraine are functioning ," Kallas said.
