The KLP has started the meeting where it will vote for the new head of the BKH.
It is reported that the Americans are also present at the meeting. The proposed director is Jon Keta, for whom a decision is expected to be made today.
Prosecutors Altin Dumani, Arben Kraja and Behar Dibra concluded that Joni Keta met the criteria for leading the institution out of the 6 candidates who had passed all phases.
Who is Jon Keta proposed as head of BKH?
With a rising career as a judicial police officer in the former Serious Crimes Division and then as an investigator at the BKH and deputy director in command for the past two months, Jon Keta, age 37, overcame all the obstacles in the race to the National Bureau of Investigation.
His name was approved during a meeting of the selection committee composed of 3 prosecutors and, after agreement, was proposed to the High Prosecutorial Council for a vote, which is the institution charged by law with appointing and declaring the end of the mandate of the director of the BKH, known as the Albanian FBI.
Jon Keta has served in the justice system for 15 years as a judicial police officer and is known for his record in financial and organized crime investigations. In a protracted process that exceeded the last August deadlines, seven contenders remained in the race and after the Assets and Image Control Commission verified and disqualified most of them, on Friday it forwarded a shortlist of winners to the selection committee composed of Altin Dumani, Arben Kraja and Behar Dibra.
Although rumors describe the cold climate between the three prosecutors as stemming from previous rifts caused by BKH, the ice between the three seems to have been melted by the candidate Jon Keta who brought them together and who is hoped to build bridges between BKH and SPAK.
In the conditions where a climate of dissatisfaction accompanied the director of BKH Aida Hajnaj during her 5-year mandate, to the point that she was forgotten to be followed up by SPAK at the end of her term, it is expected that such a conflictual relationship will not be repeated and the KLP but also the internationals will be saved from complaints, whether from SPAK or BKH.
Meanwhile, 11 members of the High Prosecutorial Council in an earlier announcement have made public another important issue, such as the hearing of the four candidates competing for the leadership of SPAK. The process for SPAK at the KLP will be held on December 11.
Four prosecutors are in the running: Doloresa Musabelliu, Adnan Xholi, Klodian Braho and Elvin Gokaj. The mandate of the special chief prosecutor Altin Dumani ends on December 18, and the next head of SPAK, like his two predecessors, will have a three-year mandate.
