An Albanian deported to Albania after a stabbing has managed to return to the United Kingdom, clandestinely entering the island.
The illegal immigrant, identified as Flamur Topalli, was jailed in 2005 for the murder of a doorman in Hove, West Sussex.
He was deported to Albania to serve the last quarter of a 16-year sentence.
Topalli, 53, was released in 2020 and re-entered Britain illegally. But he was arrested in October after police found 200 cannabis plants in Portsmouth.
He admitted to supplying drugs, for which he was convicted. A deportation hearing is also scheduled.
But taxpayers face the cost of imprisoning him again.
A source said that “he was locked up in a UK prison at taxpayers’ expense for 12 years for the crime of murder.
"But he returned illegally to commit more crimes. The court could make a deal so we can wash our hands of him. But our borders are so weak that he will probably come back again," the same source said, reports The Sun.
