Scenes from the protest in front of the Parliament

Tensions outside Parliament before the start of the plenary session. Several people were escorted by police, while protesters threw eggs and flour at MPs and the vehicle of the Speaker of the Assembly.

The situation in front of the Parliament building became significantly tense this Wednesday, before the start of the plenary session, where protesters clashed with police forces in an attempt to breach the security perimeter.

The protesters, who had gathered since the early hours of the morning, took action by pulling down and tearing down the metal fence placed by the police at the entrance to Pedonales, near the Parliament building. Faced with an attempt to penetrate the security area, the officers intervened to repel the crowd.

During the clash, police used tear gas to disperse the protesters and regain control of the situation. As a result of the intervention, several protesters were reportedly injured.

In moments of tension, some citizens attempted to prevent the deputies from entering the Parliament premises. Also, five protesters managed to cross the security cordon, forcing the police to intervene immediately. As a result, several people were escorted out, among them Gent Progni.

Progni was positioned in a bar near the Academy of Sciences from where he also threw eggs at the deputies.

Also in the bar were Socialist MPs Ulsi Manja and Admir Kadeli, whom Progni insulted by calling them thieves.

The protest was also accompanied by incidents during the arrival of the deputies to the Assembly. Some of the Socialist Party lawmakers had entered the session hall earlier, while the arrival of other deputies was greeted with egg-throwing by the protesters.

The vehicle of the Speaker of the Parliament was also attacked, with eggs and flour thrown at it.

Protesters also threw eggs at Socialist MPs, including Ardit Bido, Ervin Demo, and Blendi Klosi, as they entered the Parliament building.

The opposition MPs were greeted differently. As they passed by the protesters, chants of "sell out opposition" were heard from the crowd, without any other incidents against them being reported.

A large police presence continues to be present in the area surrounding the Parliament, while the situation remains tense, although at certain moments a temporary calm has been reported. The plenary session is expected to take place under increased security measures.
