Street vendor from Saranda, Bardha Nesturaj, who went viral in a video arguing with the area inspector, has spoken to the media, providing details.
Inspector Muçi asked Bardha to issue a tax invoice for the products she sold, while Bardha said: "Where can I get an invoice for the oregano or other products I collect in the mountains?"
Speaking to Euronews , Bardha said that he has been a street vendor for 35 years, while also explaining the debate with Inspector Muçi, where he stated that the good thing about this debate was the clarification of things and the conclusion of the law that there are no taxes for street vendors.
" Muçi initially asked me for the source document of the goods. We have been supplying this for so long that we go and get it in the villages. These are products that we get directly from the land. You don't have anywhere to get a receipt. Oregano, mountain tea, rosemary... we go to the mountains to collect them, and we also provide a coupon? It's a heavy burden! Where I go to the mountains and pick this stuff, who do I get a receipt or document from? ", she said.
What was achieved after the debate with Inspector Muçi?
" The invoice does not indicate the origin of the product. There should be a standard that contains a form that tells me: the name of the plant, the origin, where it comes from, where it goes, how it goes, etc. It should be a form that an office should issue. And this, if issued, the farmer will be obliged to fill it out and that I give the guarantee to the person I will sell it to. To this day, the farmer does not give products with an invoice, only in warehouses. We have collected the oregano, the mountain tea ourselves. It is an innovation, that we collect it in the mountains of Saranda and we take it ourselves. How can I find an invoice for a product that I collect myself in the mountains? Even Muçi did not give me a solution for this. However, I think it was positive when the law was shown and it was read very well and beautifully that street trade does not have taxes, and this was after that debate that took place in the end that this came out ", said the trader Bardha Nesturaj.
