Former Serious Crimes Prosecutor Gentian Trenova has stated that with his statements to judges, Prime Minister Edi Rama is within the limits of the criminal offense of "abuse of office".
According to Trenova, through Vetting, the government monopolized and politicized judges and prosecutors, but now that this process has ended, some judges and prosecutors have started to show independence. Trenova says that Rama wants to stop this from the very beginning.
" This attack that the prime minister is making against people in the judicial system must also be seen from a historical perspective. There is a background why we have come to this attack. The judicial system is considered by every prime minister, especially Rama, in his concept that it should serve him, should not be against him, and should be in sync with the government's movements and reforms.
In our case, the government managed to monopolize the judicial system, make it politicized, consider it a government department or ministry, and it achieved this through the Vetting process, by introducing judges and prosecutors into control systems, which were political mechanisms. It exercised selective control, by keeping in the system many judges and prosecutors who were submissive and blackmailable, or had affection for the government and conjunctural ties with government people. The prosecution and the court no longer pulled the strings.
The vetting is now in its final stages and a kind of vacuum has been left, in which the mechanisms to control judges and prosecutors will no longer exist. Some judges and prosecutors are taking the first steps towards demonstrating their independence. The Prime Minister is trying to stop this from happening. These calls from the Prime Minister are a message that you should not consider yourself independent, but should follow the spirit of the government's policies.
The Prime Minister is calling on the KLGJ and KLP to be activated, but they are silent. When the Prime Minister mentions me by name and surname, it is blackmail. The KLGK should have reacted immediately. We are on the verge of a criminal offense, blackmail, or abuse of office by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is seriously violating the Constitution , "he said.
