Calls for the protest to escalate have increased on the 32nd day of the rally in front of the Prime Minister's Office. One of the protesters, an elderly man, appealed to citizens from across the country to join the protest, demanding the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and a change in the political system.
In his speech, he called Rama a "traitor to the nation" and called on citizens to leave their daily chores to join the protest.
" We will not be defeated by a man and dictator like Edi Rama. He is a traitor to the entire nation, so you must take measures and unite as much as possible. Lower the shutters, close the bars and unite. Start from Kukës, Tropoja, Dibra, Saranda and Gjirokastra, even barefoot if necessary, let's all gather and remove him ," he declared.
The protester went even further, saying he is ready to enter the Assembly and demanding the drafting of a new Constitution for the country.
" I will be one of those who will enter Parliament and reject that Constitution, to make a new one, a good Constitution for Albania. It cannot continue like this ," he said.
At the end of his speech, the elderly man also criticized the government's recent decision on the pensioner bonus, calling it negligible.
" He gave pensioners 5 thousand lekë. What are they? They don't even go out for a coffee. These handouts don't solve the problems of Albanians ," said the protester amid applause from the crowd.
