Former Minister of Agriculture, Edmond Panariti, has commented on the scandal of recent days where peaches and tomatoes have been blocked outside due to pesticides.
For the former minister, there is a possibility that these products, the last of which were peaches, could also have been consumed by Albanian citizens, as there is no differentiation.
" I think the same products have been distributed in our markets, just as they were for export and were blocked. These products may have been consumed by Albanians ," said Panariti.
Meanwhile, expert Esmeralda Ballesha stated that in terms of food security, Albania is light years behind the EU, while adding that improving this problem will cost a lot of money.
" We are a starlight away from the EU. We are catching up with the NFA but it is a small part of the traceability links. Food safety costs a lot. It will cost the government. Tests, training, traceability system. It doesn't matter inside or outside. Food safety is a national issue ," said Ballesha.
