Albania has two satellites in orbit, but institutions are looking for simpler solutions on the ground. After the fires that devastated the Darzeza forest this year on one hand and the ongoing fire in Drenova on the other, the Fier Municipality is looking to purchase a drone for civil emergencies.
The document filed with the Public Procurement Agency specifies that the drone must have a minimum horizontal speed of 50 km/h, a minimum climb speed of 18 km/h, and a maximum climb altitude of 4 km.
The Mirdita Municipality has also opened a similar tender. It seeks to purchase a drone that will be used to supervise construction and enforce the law in the territory, contributing to the prevention of unauthorized construction and other urban planning violations.
In terms of flight performance, the drone must have a maximum climb speed of up to 10 meters per second and 6 meters per second when equipped with accessories. Likewise, the maximum descent speed is required to be 8 meters per second and 6 meters per second with accessories.
In a world where technology flies above our heads, Albania is learning that even the most advanced satellites are not enough without attentive and quick eyes on the ground. The purchase of drones for civil emergencies and urban monitoring is not just a technical step, but a clear message that nature protection, security and the law require constant attention and concrete actions./ A2CNN
