The Albanian Language and Literature Exam for the 2026 State Matura took place this Tuesday throughout the country.
Just a few minutes after the start of the Albanian Language and Literature exam for the 2026 State Matura, the test essay was published on social media, raising questions about the security of the process.
After verification, the Ministry of Education announced that the publication occurred at an exam center in the Kukës Region and that the responsible high school graduate was immediately excluded from the exam.
According to the ministry, the incident did not affect the progress of the testing, which is taking place in 144 exam centers across the country.
The publication of theses during the State Matura exams is not a new phenomenon. In previous years, various tests have circulated on social media just minutes after the exams began, sparking debates about the effectiveness of security measures.
The repetition of these cases from year to year has raised questions about the rigor of control at testing centers and the implementation of the State Matura regulation, despite the disciplinary measures that educational authorities have stated they apply to violators.

The Ministry of Education guarantees high school graduates, parents, teachers and public opinion that the Albanian Language and Literature exam of the 2026 State Matura is being held under full security conditions and in strict compliance with the State Matura Regulation, ensuring the highest testing standards for over 26,600 high school graduates across the country.
The second State Matura exam 2026 is taking place normally in 144 exam centers, in environments of peace, order, transparency and high security. Regarding the publication on social networks of photos of the Albanian Language and Literature exam thesis, the Ministry of Education clarifies that this act occurred after the exam had started and does not affect in any way its development or integrity.
Such an action cannot diminish the work and commitment of thousands of teachers who have worked with high school graduates, and over 2,000 exam administrators and employees of educational structures, who have diligently followed the preparation and progress of the State Matura testing.
It has currently been identified that the thesis was published by an exam center in the Kukës Region and the high school graduate who published the thesis was immediately excluded from the exam. As previously announced, measures will be applied both to high school graduates who break the regulations, as well as to the entire chain of process administrators at the exam center.
The Ministry of Education condemns any act that aims to damage the credibility of the State Matura process and reiterates that any violation of the rules will be treated seriously and in accordance with applicable legislation and regulations.
Preparations for the 2026 State Matura have been complete and well-coordinated, from designing tests with high standards of professionalism and security, certifying administrative personnel, conducting consultations in schools, distributing model tests from the Educational Services Center to organizing mock tests, as well as providing psychological support to high school graduates.
For the Ministry of Education, the priority remains the success of every high school graduate and the guarantee of everyone's right to take exams under equal conditions, so the commitment to a fair, honest and meritocratic State Matura will continue without interruption until the completion of all four tests.
