From fame to tragedy: 'Saimir' actor is shot with 8 bullets and loses

A 39-year-old actor has turned to the show "Fiks Fare" asking for help, as a homeless person.

Mishel Prela, the main actor of the film "Saimir", played in Italy with the great actor Xhevdet Ferri, tells the ordeal of life, from fame in Europe, prison, an assassination attempt with 8 bullets to life in Tirana's asylums.

Michel, crippled by the assassination attempt, with one of his legs amputated, says he is currently staying in a day care center, with 20 other people in the room.

" I have the misfortune of being an amputee. I used to be an artist, I played with the great Xhevdet Ferri, who is no more today. And I have come to make an appeal because I have gone to hospitals and have not found a solution, " he told Fiksi journalists.

Fame in Venice, Berlin, Cannes...

The film "Saimir" was shot in 2005 and 2006 in Rome, Milan, Ostia and Florence. "It was also a success at festivals, Venice, Berlin, Cannes. I was lucky enough to meet Tarantino, Scarlet Johansson, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and many international celebrities," he says.

The film was dramatic and is called "Saimir", which is also his name in the film. "I am in the lead role. I was randomly selected on the street, I was on a motorcycle and a person stopped me. Later I was lucky enough to learn from the great Xhevdet Ferri. At that time I was not in acting school, I was 18 to 19 years old ", adds Micheli.

According to him, the Italian director Francesco had come from Italy and had auditioned at the Academy of Arts with professional actors and had not found an actor. " He chose me. I filmed and it was a fantastic experience. 'Saimir' was a drama, it showed the father-son relationship that was very successful ," says the 39-year-old.

The "killer" was paid 80 thousand euros for my "head"!

Micheli says that his life is truly a movie, in addition to acting. " I had offers to do other movies in leading roles but some problems happened to me that I had not anticipated. I went down the wrong path. I returned to Albania and a problem happened to me. I accidentally got into a conflict to protect an old friend. That person came to shoot me. In self-defense, I shot him too ," Micheli claims.

For this incident, he went to prison and was charged with assault. "They sentenced me to 10 years in prison. I got a lawyer and sat him down, I spent 5 years in a cell at my youngest and best age," he says.

The 39-year-old adds that the person he had a conflict with had made up. " This person I injured brought in other people to kill me. He didn't come himself, he paid a killer. The one I didn't know at all, I was in a hotel, as soon as I came out he called me 'Mishel' and I remember the first bullet passing by my ear. He thundered at me for a long distance, to the 'Partizani' school, not stopping at all. I had 8 shots, 8 bullets in my body. I still have one in my bone, which saved me because I had a flight. He shot me in the back and followed me with all 8 bullets ", he recounts.

He also tells the most dramatic moment of the confrontation with the killer. " In the end, I remember that he came and put the gun to my forehead. I reacted and grabbed the gun in his hand. I raised it because I would not be here that day. He put it to my head again, but he had no more bullets and ran away. The bullet hit my hand. This was paid by the person in question, 80 thousand euros for my elimination. The assassin is in prison, while the person who ordered it does not know ", adds Michel.

Another drama took place in the hospital, which lasted a full 6 months. “ I got in the car and they took me to the 'Mother Teresa' Hospital, I was wearing shorts, I was covered in blood, with 8 bullets, not a few… The doctors and the police came, I was thinking I was running away and they asked me who shot me. I told them I don't know. The police came and took me to the Military Hospital. There they took me on a stretcher, put me in the hall. There were 2 nurses. They saw me like this (with blood) and said 'leave me alone, don't touch it with your hands...'. Fate, a door opens and a noble face comes in, this doctor was wearing a white shirt, today I thank him very much. He tells them to catch him and take him to hell, catch him and re-arrest him. After that I don't remember anything, I was taken after 3-4 days or after 1 week I don't remember. I spent 6 months in the Military Hospital, a fight for life and I managed to survive ”, Michel says.

According to him, the doctor is called Skënder Buci. " I thank him and the other doctors who happened to be in that hospital. I managed to escape, I had bullets in my stomach, in my ear, in my hand, I still have one. Thank God I made it. I had problems with my leg, one of my legs was amputated. They didn't amputate me here because they kept me here and did interventions. I went to France and asked for asylum, they didn't give it to me, but I had medical treatment. I returned, but the misfortunes kept coming one after the other and I'm not doing well," he continues.

In the end, he says that after all these sufferings, he is homeless. "Today I live in the 'Strehëza' center in Shkozë. At the moment I have many problems, I am alone. I came and said to turn to Fiksi, national and international artists, whoever wants to help me. Where I am at 'Strehëza', I am with 20 other people and I have no way to treat my leg or how to move. They told me that they would give me a house. I have no other option, I get a camp for 140 thousand old lek per month, which is not even enough for my treatment , "concludes Misheli./Fiks Fare
