Former prosecutor Eugen Beci commented on the visit of SPAK head Altin Dumani to the US Department of State, where he is expected to meet with a senior official for European and Eurasian affairs.
According to Beci, the visit confirms the new Trump administration's support for the Special Prosecutor's Office, but is also related to US interests regarding certain issues they want to fight.
" From a diplomatic and legal point of view in Albania, this meeting is seen in several directions. First, the program was made in a very early period, in the Trump administration, so Albania should also be concerned that the Trump administration is giving it direct support. This meeting gives some messages of support and creates trust, but in the end it aims to guide. The guidelines are not given with specific names, but will show the directions of American policies. There is another part: it gives courage to SPAK prosecutors. But let's not forget that the American government will issue its guidelines regarding direct interests, which have been different in different periods. These will be given directly as a message to Dumani.
"The orientation could be related to the fight against drug trafficking, treating it as a war against terrorism, or against the Soros organization. This senior American official will provide the orientations coming from the Trump administration: the fight against drug trafficking as part of the fight against terrorism, and the fight against the Soros organization ," Beci said on the Now show on Euronews Albania.
