The German Embassy announces that Ambassador Bergner met today with the President of the KLP, Mirela Bogdani, and a number of members of the High Prosecutorial Council.

He underlined the important role that the KLP plays in preserving the independence, integrity, quality and efficiency of prosecutions in Albania. The Ambassador encouraged the Council to carry out its duties actively, responsibly and consciously.

Bergner stressed the importance of the upcoming election of Altin Dumani's successor as head of the SPAK Special Prosecution Office: " Under the leadership of Altin Dumani, SPAK has achieved extremely important successes in the fight against corruption at all levels and organized crime. It is important to continue this course. We are confident that the upcoming election will be held in a transparent manner and that each member of the High Prosecutorial Council will be guided in his decision only by the professional preparation of the candidates and their unquestionable integrity ."
