Police at the service of rapists, "elite" tourism turns into a dangerous farce...
While Albania is intensively advertised as an elite and welcoming tourism destination for domestic and foreign vacationers, the reality on the ground is quite different and disturbing. In a serious incident that occurred in Ksamil, a person with a criminal record for drug trafficking physically assaulted a citizen, in front of minor children and dozens of tourists who were in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack took place in one of the most frequented areas of Ksamil, and the aggressor, a citizen known for his connections to the criminal world and suspicious activities, acted safe in the invulnerability guaranteed by the support of the local police. The victim was left injured and shaken, while the perpetrator was not accompanied or stopped by the blue uniforms.
This is not the first time this citizen has committed violence in public. Residents and relatives of the victim claim that he is "under the protection of the Saranda police" and has operated unharmed by the law for years, despite the serious crimes attributed to him.
The incident raises serious questions about the role of the State Police in tourist areas and the increasingly blurred division between law enforcement and protection of elements of the criminal world. In the face of open violence, institutions choose to remain silent, while justice disappears under the shadow of political favors and corrupt connections.
Is this the Albania of elite tourism? Or a facade that hides a dark reality, where the power of crime is stronger than the law? / Infront-Albania
