A fire that broke out this Saturday morning in the Sotirani area, in the village of Dukat, is advancing rapidly and endangering the Llogara National Park.
According to the announcement of the Municipality of Vlora, at around 08:00 in the morning, the Fire Service was notified of the fire in the Orikum Administrative Unit.
Currently, 10 firefighters and 3 forest service personnel are working on the scene. However, due to the rugged terrain and dense vegetation, efforts to bring the flames under control are difficult.
Faced with the deteriorating situation, the Municipality of Vlora has requested emergency air intervention by helicopter, as well as the involvement of 30 armed forces to help isolate the flames and protect the protected area.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation on the ground and call for immediate inter-institutional coordination to avoid irreparable damage to one of the country's most important natural assets.
