Two minor girls, 9 and 11 years old, lost their lives this afternoon on Tale beach in Lezha, as they entered the sea to bathe.
According to a preliminary report from the police, the minor girls, identified as Jonida Dajlani (9 years old) and Adelajda Misha (11 years old), failed to reach the shore when the waves started to rise, while the bodies of the two minor girls were found a few meters away from where they had entered to bathe.
Regarding the serious incident, the Mayor of Lezha, Pjerin Ndreu, through a reaction on social networks, while expressing condolences to the families of the victims, has raised concern 'about the lack of care and vigilance on unmanaged public beaches'.
Ndreu emphasizes that beach safety is a shared responsibility and requires awareness, care, and cooperation from everyone.
" I express my deep sorrow for the tragic loss of life of two young girls on the beach of Tale. This is a serious event, in the face of which words are insufficient. My sincere condolences to their families and relatives.
As a local government leader, I express my concern about the lack of care and vigilance on unmanaged beaches, which are not administered by private entities or the Municipality. In such areas, parental care for children, as well as the attention of family members and society to people who do not know how to swim, must be maximum at all times.
Managed beaches are equipped with appropriate signage, clearly identified areas for vacationers, and the necessary infrastructure for their safety.
"Beach safety is a shared responsibility and requires awareness, care and cooperation from everyone ," writes Ndreu.
