Edon Zhegrova became one of the most sensational moves of this summer transfer window, who only managed to move to Juventus in the last hours.
This transfer was made possible thanks to the timely issuance of an Albanian passport by Prime Minister Edi Rama to the Kosovo star, which allowed Juventus to register him without any problems.
Edon's mother, Sanije Zhegrova, tells "Albania Live" the emotions and behind-the-scenes of this transfer and the Albanian striker's conversations with Prime Minister Rama.
" It was a bit stressful as a summer. There were many clubs that were interested before Juventus. There were Dortmund, Marseille, but the seal was Juventus and we were all happy, like Edon, like us as a family.
When he said he was going to Juventus, it was an indescribable moment.
Since Edon was little, my husband, Lulëzim, and I have been close to him. And since he moved here to Turin, we have come to live together with Edon here. We are close in every way.
Edon was born in Germany, we returned to Kosovo after Edon was born, after the war. Edon was 2 years old when he came to Pristina. That's where we started our life with my husband. When he was 6 years old, his grandfather registered Edon with Flamurtari, then with Pristina. There was a Milan Junior Camp that was held in Pristina and there he was selected among 200 talents. It was an indescribable feeling.
When Edoni comes out before the match, he sees where we are sitting and blows us a kiss.
The transfer window was closed for three weeks. Edoni deserved Belgian papers, but due to the movement of football, Edoni could not get a Belgian passport. Juventus told us that if he got an Albanian passport, it would be easier. Edoni sent a message to Prime Minister Edi Rama, for which I am always grateful…
He sent him a message and Rama replied: ' Respect. It's done .'
As far as I know, at Edon's debut, the Prime Minister's brother was in the stadium and Edon gave him the jersey. I am infinitely grateful to the Prime Minister and the Albanian state for their support.
We had about 15 days. They asked us how long we needed the passport for, because they said it would be out in two weeks. We were told that the market would be closed in two weeks. They told us not to worry, it would be out in two days.
After receiving the passport, Edoni communicated with Prime Minister Edi Rama and said: 'I don't know how to thank you,' and Rama said: 'I don't want anything, just a Juventus jersey ,'" said Zhegrova's mother, Sanija.
