Atletico Madrid have rejected a staggering €150 million bid for Julian Alvarez, confirming their determination to keep one of the most highly-rated strikers at the club.
Real Madrid have reportedly shown a strong interest in the Argentina international and have made a substantial financial offer. However, Atletico Madrid have made it clear to their city rivals that Alvarez is not for sale unless his release clause, which is estimated at €500m, is paid in full.
The interest in the 25-year-old is not just from Los Blancos. Barcelona also consider Alvarez one of their main targets for the summer transfer window. The Catalans reportedly submitted a bid of 100 million euros, but this was also rejected by Atletico with the same attitude.
The Madrid club seems determined not to give up on one of the key players in the sports project, making it clear that any negotiations for the Argentine striker start only from the value of his clause.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid or Barcelona will return with new offers in the coming weeks, but for now, the transfer of Julian Alvarez seems an extremely difficult mission for the two giants of Spanish football.
