
Italian authorities have launched a wide-ranging operation this morning, issuing precautionary measures against 54 people in several cities across the country. The investigation is coordinated by the Public Prosecutors' Offices of Benevento, Catanzaro, Cosenza, Milan, Reggio Calabria, Rovigo, Vibo Valentia and Viterbo and targets suspected 'Ndrangheta-style organised criminal activities.
According to investigative sources, at the center of the operation are suspicions of involvement in criminal organizations of a mafia nature and drug trafficking.
Among those under investigation is Marko Ferdiko, former leader of Inter's ultras fans. He was previously sentenced to four years and eight months in prison as part of the investigation known as "Doppia Curva". Ferdiko is currently on trial in Milan, accused of the murder of Vittorio Boiocchi, another well-known figure in the Milanese organized fan scene. In this new phase of the investigation, he is suspected of links to mafia-type structures and involvement in drug trafficking.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects face a number of criminal offenses, including:
1- participation in a mafia-style criminal organization
2- drug trafficking
3- attempted murder
4- aggravated assault
5-receiving stolen goods
6- serious damage to property
7- possession and keeping of weapons and explosives in public places
8- extortion
9- threats and attacks against public officials
10- assistance in avoiding punishment and favoring the perpetrators
11- fraudulent transfer of assets
12-animal killing
