Ardon Jashari just a few weeks ago took a big and important step in his football career. The Albanian signed with Milan, starting a new adventure in Serie A.
After many months of negotiations and lengthy talks, Igli Tare finally managed to make this operation concrete. Jashari has now given his first interview about how it all started and what his first impressions are as a Milan player.
" Have you come back to the idea of Milan?" - My feelings for this club are incredible. It's a dream come true, not only for me, but also for my family. I've only been here a short time, but I've been very well received by everyone. I'm settling in well. It's an honor to be here.
It was a long negotiation to get here… - Everyone knows it was a long negotiation, but from the first contacts with Milan, it was clear that I wanted to come here. I knew it wouldn't be easy because I was important to Club Brugge and they wouldn't let me leave easily. It took patience. Tare always told me he would do everything he could to bring me here. Even though other clubs came, I only wanted Milan. Now we are all happy.
What impressed you about Allegri? - I've been here for a week, but I can only say positive things about Allegri and his staff. I immediately understood that he is a coach who cares about the team. There is great harmony in the dressing room. Then we all go out there to win.
Could the expectations that have been created be the biggest challenge for you? - The only thing I have in common with De Ketelare is that we come from the same club, but we are two different players. I feel a little bit under pressure, but anyone who wears this shirt knows the pressure, so it's all normal. I will work hard to make the fans proud and to reward the club's faith in me. I will work hard to become a top-level player.
When you supported Milan, who was your idol? - My favorite Milan player was Pirlo. I have a similar story with him; he started as a number 10, and so did I. Then he came here and played as a playmaker. I also started as an attacking midfielder, and now I play later. He was a big inspiration for me. Of course, we are different players; I will play in my own style.
Were you surprised by the performance against Leeds too? What are your goals for the season? - I thank Allegri for his kind words after the match against Leeds. I hadn't played a game for two months, I was struggling a bit to get back into the rhythm, but I felt good on the pitch. I had been training with the team for two days, but I wanted to leave a good impression on everyone. I have a lot of room for improvement and I will continue to grow.
Goals? We have to win as much as possible, this club deserves so many trophies. I will try to give my best in every match.
What is it like playing with Modric? - This club has had fantastic players and I am proud to wear the same shirt with them. Modric has a lot of experience, which can help me a lot every day. I will try to have fun and enjoy playing with him, and then I will try to grow with him.
Can you imagine your first match at the San Siro? - When I was little, I came to see Milan play against Barcelona. I always dreamed of becoming a footballer and I grew up with these two teams. It's hard for me to find the right words to express how I feel to be here.
When did you hear about Milan? - It was a great season with Club Brugge and I wanted to end it on a high note, without worrying about the rumors. As soon as it ended, my agent told me that Milan could be an option. While I was on vacation, he told me about Milan's interest and then I spoke to Tara about the project. Now my dream has come true.
In which position do you see yourself playing best? - Allegri will decide where he will activate me. There is a lot of rotation in midfield, so we have to play in multiple positions. We will see how Allegri wants to play. I can play as number 10 or number 6, the coach will decide", concluded the Albanian.
