The coach of the Albanian national team, Rolando Maran, expressed disappointment over the loss in his first match on the red and black bench, but at the same time emphasized that the challenge served to better understand the aspects where the team needs to improve.
After the match against Israel, the Italian coach stated that he had foreseen the difficulties the team would encounter in this transition phase, as the players are adapting to his playing philosophy.
"It's a sin, because I was hoping to get a win for the fans and for us. When you start a new project, it's important to start well. In some moments the game was positive, but in others we lost balance and this is an aspect where we need to work a lot," said Maran.
According to the coach, Albania played a better first half, maintaining organization and balance on the field. However, in the second half, the team lost its compactness, giving Israel the opportunity to exploit counterattacks.
"The lack of balance in the second half made everything more difficult. Israel is a technical team and difficult to deal with when pressure is not applied at the right moment," he said.
Maran emphasized that the limited time working with the group has not yet allowed him to fully implement his ideas, but the match has given him valuable information for the future.
"I'm trying to build a team that plays more in the opposing half. This has caused some problems in other aspects of the game and we need to find the right balance. I don't like the loss, but it gave me important clues about the work we need to do," the coach added.
Commenting on the performance of striker Armando Broja, Maran said that the player had clear tactical tasks, but that he still needs time to adapt to the demands of the technical staff.
"Broja was supposed to be the main point of reference in attack, but his characteristics push him to move a lot. He has only worked with me for three days and there are still things that need to be improved. However, he tried to implement what we asked of him," the technician stated.
In the end, Maran thanked the fans for the support and hospitality he has received since taking office, expressing regret that he was unable to reward them with a positive result.
"I have found excellent hospitality and I would like to reward it with a better performance and result. I hope that in the next matches I can justify the trust and warmth I have received," he concluded.
