He started his adventure in Albania with a loss, Maran: I'm not happy with

The Italian coach of the Albanian national team, Rolando Maran, analyzed the 0-1 friendly loss against Israel, emphasizing that the team still has many aspects to improve.

Maran admitted that the result did not satisfy him, but said that the match served to provide important signals for the team.

The Italian coach said that Israel was a difficult opponent due to their technical qualities and ball circulation, which made the high pressure from the Rossoneri more complicated.

According to Maran, Albania did some things well, especially in the first half, while in the second half they lost their balance in trying to attack more. He emphasized that these ten days of work with the group have served to better understand the characteristics of the players and the roles where they can give the most.

The coach also spoke about Armando Broja, saying that the striker should be more of a reference point in the center of the attack, but added that his movements on the wings are also related to the need to participate more in the game. Finally, the Italian technician praised the hospitality in Albania, saying that he hopes to reward the fans' support with better performances and results in the future.

"It was all the more difficult because Israel is a very technical team. It was difficult to put pressure on them if you didn't have the right time. We had difficulties in that aspect, but the positions were clear. We have to cover five spaces and have five players in the attacking phase who switch positions with each other.

On the one hand, due to the characteristics of the players I chose, I placed players who could express themselves better in the roles they felt most comfortable in. On one side we had players who had to alternate between them and support the central striker, while on the other side we had players who, in possession of the ball, had to become the fifth element in the offensive department.

We've been working on these concepts for a while now and I think we didn't do badly, especially in the first half. In the second half we tried to attack more, but when you lose your balance and the opponent constantly counterattacks, everything becomes more difficult.

I think we did some things well, but we lost a bit of balance in the second half. The choices we made were dictated by the characteristics of the players. I had chosen players who could be switched between roles. On one side we had a faster and more advanced player, while on the other side we played with two attacking midfielders to support the striker and the playmaker. We also needed a midfielder who could help more in building up the plays and bringing the ball forward.

Of course, Israel is a very technical team and they made it difficult for us with the way they pressed. I think in the second half we lost our balance a little bit.

These ten days have served very well to understand how the players function in different roles and what we can improve. They have tried to do what I have asked of them and have given their maximum. There are many things that need to be improved, but this was something I expected.

I was expecting it because this was probably the most unpleasant game to play, not because of the value of the opponent, but because of their style. They are a very good team in passing the ball and can cause you problems in high pressure, which is something we need to work on more.

For Broja, he should have been more of a reference point in the center of the attack. However, his characteristics make him move a lot. For him too, it was the first time he worked with me and he only had two or three days of training. There are things that need to be improved in this aspect as well.

He tried to do what I asked him to do and, in trying to do so, he often went looking for space on the wings. A striker, sometimes, needs to touch the ball to feel part of the game and to participate in the maneuver. There were moments when we couldn't get the ball to him and for that reason he moved more.

I can't be happy with the result. However, I saw both positive and negative things in the performance, and I honestly expected this. I would have preferred to work after a positive result, but I expected that we would have some problems. For me, this match served a lot, because it gave me clear indications on what I need to work on more.

As for Albania, now I have tried it myself. I have found an extraordinary hospitality. That is precisely why I am not happy today, because it would have been nice to reward everyone with an even better performance and with a result. But we knew that this was a match to create the foundations. I hope that in the future I will reward all this love and support that I have received so far , "said Maran.
