Spanish media have revealed more details about Nico Williams' failed transfer to Barcelona today. The 22-year-old was very close to joining the Catalans, but at the last moment he decided to renew his contract with Athletic Bilbao for another 10 years until 2035.

According to the prestigious "Sport", the day before Williams signed with Barcelona, he received a WhatsApp message on his phone from an important person within the Catalan club, which reportedly said: " Give up Tainta and get Jorge Mendes or Pini Zahavi to represent you ."

Tainta is the agent of Nico Williams and his brother Iñaki Williams, while Jorge Mendes and Pini Zahavi are the other two agents known for their close ties with Barcelona.

In the end, Nico Williams decided to stay loyal to his agent and refused to sign with Barcelona, after this “condition.” Exactly one day after this message, Tainta negotiated with Athletic Bilbao and found common ground, while the next day the renewal between the parties came.
