The Group D matches of the 2026 World Cup have concluded. After the USA, which had previously secured qualification for the round of 16, Australia has also booked its ticket to the knockout round, closing the group in second place. Meanwhile, Paraguay will have to wait to find out if they will qualify as one of the best third-place teams, while Turkey ends its journey in this edition.
In the matches held this Friday morning Albanian time, Turkey triumphed 3-2 over the USA, while the match between Paraguay and Australia ended without a winner, with a score of 0-0.
In California, Turkey secured a prestigious 3-2 victory over the United States, despite having been eliminated before the match. The Americans took the lead early with a goal by Trusty in the third minute, but Arda Güler and Barış Yılmaz overturned the score inside the first half. Berhalter equalized for the United States early in the second half, and in the eighth minute of added time, Kaan Ayhan scored the goal that sealed Turkey's victory.
In Santa Clara, Paraguay and Australia played out a 0-0 draw. This result was enough for Australia to advance to the round of 16, while Paraguay will have to wait to see if they make it to the top eight teams that qualify from third place.
