Albania draws goalless against Serbia at “Air Albania”, in a valuable challenge for the World Cup qualifiers. The Red and Blacks showed great desire from the beginning
The match played at "Air Albania" between Albania and Serbia, valid for the 2026 World Cup Group K qualifiers, ends with the nets intact.
The match began with deafening whistles, as the Serbian anthem was being played on the field.
At one point, Serbia's captain, Aleksandar Mitrovic, touched his ear as a result of the loud noise that Albanian fans caused during the performance of the Serbian anthem.
Meanwhile, regarding the game, Serbia started better by keeping the ball, while Albania created its only chance until the 11th minute with Mario Mitaj.
The defender, found uncovered, shot hard from distance, but the ball was controlled by the opposing goalkeeper.
In the 17th minute, Pavlović was penalized after a foul on Armando Broja.
Meanwhile, 2 minutes later, a misplaced move by Gjimshiti put him in an awkward position against Vlahovic and he was then forced to commit a foul. The referee did not forgive and punished the Albanian captain with a yellow card.
Gjimshiti will now be absent from the match against Latvia on June 10.
The red and black defender is the only one who was punished with a yellow card in the first two qualifying matches and will now miss out on the important transfer for Albania.
From the penalty kick, Vlahovic struck, threatening with a strong shot, but fortunately missed the target.

Serbia, although struggling, was close to scoring in the 53rd minute, but Strakosha showed himself ready by making a spectacular save.
After a cross from the left, the ball goes to Mitrovic, who heads it, but finds the red and black goalkeeper's response.
With this draw, Albania ranks second with 4 points, while Serbia holds 4th place with 1 point.
Group K is led by England with 9 points, followed by Albania with 4 points, Latvia in 3rd place with 3 points, Serbia in 4th place with 1 point, while Andorra closes the group with 0 points.
Albania will play their next match on Tuesday away against Latvia at 20:45.
