The match against Latvia is undoubtedly one of the most important challenges for Albania's possible qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Any result beyond victory today almost ends any hope that the team led by Silvinjo will secure at least second place in Group K, which leads to the "play-offs".
But it is definitely not the most difficult match, as it is expected to be the first one we play in October, against Serbia on the road. And undoubtedly, the challenge in question requires the players to the maximum and especially to avoid "forced" absences due to the situation with cards.
Fortunately, the disciplinary situation is very positive. None of the Albanian national team players have been punished with a yellow card in these qualifiers with the exception of Berat Gjimshiti. He actually received two and served his one-match suspension in the first match against Latvia.
Thus, none of the players risk suspension if they are punished with a yellow card in today's match against Latvia, thus not being limited in their sporting struggle with the fear of losing a match that could be historic like the one with Serbia in a month.
