Hollywood producer David Pearce has been sentenced to 146 years in prison after being found guilty of the deaths of two women in 2021, as well as a series of sexual assaults on other women.
Pearce was found responsible for the deaths of model Christy Giles and her friend, Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, who died from a fentanyl overdose. According to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, Pearce and another man, Brant Osborn, met the victims in November 2021, and the women went with them to Pearce's apartment, where they were given a lethal dose of the drugs GHB and fentanyl.
In addition to charges in the deaths of the two women, Pearce was also found guilty of raping seven other women between 2007 and 2021. The charges included three counts of rape with the use of force, two counts of sexual penetration with the use of force, and one count of rape of an unconscious victim.
Following his arrest in December 2021, seven women came forward with similar allegations. During his trial, Pearce denied all charges, claiming he had never met any of the women and that the other encounters were consensual.
His conviction comes as a result of a lengthy investigation by Los Angeles authorities, highlighting the seriousness of the sex crimes and the use of substances dangerous to the lives of the victims.
