Albin Kurti, leader of the LVV and acting Prime Minister, has received a death threat in a public message from the Serbian terrorist group “Severna Brigada.” The latter has been declared a terrorist organization by Kosovo law enforcement institutions.
The terrorist group threatens to physically eliminate Kurti, while there is still no official reaction from Kosovo's security institutions or the office of the acting Prime Minister.
The message published by this organization states: "By the time dawn breaks over Kosovo, Albin Kurti will be dead."
"Northern Brigade" has been mentioned before in cases of incidents and threats with an extremist background in northern Kosovo, while the latest message is considered an escalation of threatening rhetoric towards Kosovo institutions.
The Kosovo government declared this organization a terrorist organization in June 2023. Along with it, the organization “Civilna Zaštita” (“Civil Protection”) was also declared as terrorist, which it emphasized posed a “serious and direct threat to the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo.”
At the time, Kurti declared that these groups pose a "serious and direct threat to the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo."
