In the June 7 parliamentary elections in Kosovo, 18 parties have confirmed their participation until May 6, 2026, while the registration deadline closes on Thursday, May 7.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi told RTK that so far the Commission has received notification of participation in the elections from 18 political parties; non-participation from 4 others and the formation of 1 coalition consisting of 2 political parties.
According to Elezit, the political parties that have confirmed their participation in the elections are: Social Democratic Party; Kosovar Nevi Romani Party; Ashkali Social Democratic Party; For Freedom, Justice and Persistence; Srpska Lista; Yenilikçi Türk Hareket Partisi; Democratic League of Kosovo; Fjala; Progressive Movement of Roma of Kosovo; United Roma Party of Kosovo – PREBK; Social Democratic Union; United Goranska Partija; Kosova Demokratik Türk Partisi; Alliance for the Future of Kosovo; Nova Demokratska Stranka; Egyptian Liberal Party; New Democratic Initiative of Kosovo; and Kosovski Savez.
Meanwhile, according to him, the political parties that have so far announced their non-participation in the elections are: the Democratic Unity Party; the National Front of Kosovo; the Vatra Civic Movement; and the Anamorava Union for Change.
According to CEC data, 6 days after the opening of the deadline for declaring coalitions, the CEC has only received the notification of the formation of a coalition from two Bosniak parties. These are Demokratska Stranka Bošnjaka and Demokratska Stranka Vatan, which have submitted to the CEC the coalition under the name "Koalicija VAKAT".
According to the CEC, notification by registered political parties of participation or non-participation in elections and the formation of coalitions is a different process from applying for certification of new political entities and submitting the list of candidates for MPs.
According to Elezit, the deadline for applying for certification of new political entities began on May 2 and will end on May 10.
"Starting from May 2 to 10, new political entities (coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) must submit to the CEC, respectively to the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Control, the application for certification for participation in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo. According to the Law on General Elections, a political party is automatically considered certified, therefore this process will only apply to new political entities, which in this case are coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates," said Elezi.
Meanwhile, according to him, the submission of the list of candidates for MPs by political entities began on May 2 and will end on May 12, 2026.
"The CEC has set an 11-day deadline, from May 2 to May 12, 2026, for political entities (political parties, coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) to submit the list of names of candidates for deputies to be certified to participate in the early elections of June 7. The submission of the list of names of candidates for deputies must be done through the electronic platform and the procedure is similar to the last elections held in December last year," said Elezi.
