Political parties have taken immediate action following the Constitutional Court's ruling, which gave a 34-day deadline for electing a president. Vetëvendosje said that a session should be called next week. Two of the opposition parties: PDK and AAK have held leadership meetings.
Meanwhile, political experts estimate that the only possibility to elect the head of state is an LVV-LDK agreement. The opportunity that the Constitutional Court has given to elect a new president in the next 34 days has set political parties in motion.
Vetëvendosje has stated that a session to elect the president should be held next week, and in order for it to be successful, MP Egzon Azemi has said that they will also begin talks with opposition political parties.
"We are extremely open to having further talks, but sincere talks with political entities. As you know, the Prime Minister has invited the leaders of political entities even after we sent the case to the Constitutional Court, but they did not want to come with the reasoning that without the Constitutional Court giving a signal or an answer there is no need for meetings," said Azemi.
Regarding the political situation, the Democratic Party of Kosovo held a meeting of the leadership and parliamentary group on Thursday, but did not announce any decisions.
" Our decision is that we will call a meeting of the Steering Council within a few days, where we will discuss the serious political situation in Kosovo and where we will make decisions on the future political actions that await us ," said Çitaku.
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has said that they do not have votes for any political candidate.
Besnik Tahiri, head of the AAK Parliamentary Group, stressed that the opposition must come together and offer an alternative to get out of this situation.
" It is very important that there is an intra-opposition discussion in order to then decide whether there will be a competition or not or whether we will go to the elections again. The alliance will not create a quorum just for the competition, under any circumstances at any time. Those two candidates are party members, we are against state capture and being against state capture, we will not support such a situation at any time ," Tahiri declared.
A day after the Constitutional Court's ruling, the AAK also held a General Council meeting.
The Democratic League of Kosovo has not responded whether they will propose a candidate for president in the meetings with Vetëvendosje or whether they will make the signatures of its 15 MPs available for another candidate.
Political analyst Artan Alijaj is of the opinion that based on the current positions of opposition political parties, especially PDK, which has expressed interest in new elections, Vetëvendosje can only reach an agreement with LDK for the president.
" It seems that with PDK the chances are zero... if there are negotiations between LVV and LDK, I do not rule out the possibility of an agreement, it depends on what the details will be, but the possibility will be there," said Alijaj.
The leaders of the Democratic Party and the Democratic League have refused to meet with those of Vetëvendosje while the Constitutional Court's interim measure was in effect.
Both PDK and LDK expressed their willingness to meet with LVV after the Constitutional Court's verdict, which was published on Wednesday.
