Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has commemorated the 27th anniversary of the start of NATO bombing of Serbian targets, describing the intervention as a decisive moment for the survival and freedom of the people of Kosovo.
Through a Facebook post, she recalled the dramatic situation of 1999, emphasizing that the country faced existential danger.
"27 years ago, when the people of Kosovo faced extermination by genocidal Serbia, NATO acted. Kosovo does not forget. We must preserve the alliances that protect freedom as much as freedom itself," Osmani wrote.
In her message, the president also released a historic video of former US President Bill Clinton, who at the time supported military intervention as necessary to stop ethnic cleansing and violence against Kosovo Albanians.
