The Vice President of the Democratic Party, Luçiano Boçi, has reacted to the fire that has been going on for days in the waste field in Elbasan, considering it a direct consequence of misgovernance and deep corruption at all levels of government.
" Today we are experiencing the consequences of a prolonged government and the effect of corruption that has engulfed every capillary of institutions and the way of governance, from central to local ," declared Boçi.
He stressed that this is not a random or unexpected fire, but a repeated fire, which, according to him, has a clear background: " It is not the first fire in this country. It is a deliberate fire related to the attempt to cover up the carcinogenic smoke of the incinerators and especially the rampant corruption that accompanies this affair ."
Also mentioning the incinerators in Tirana and Fier, Boçi underlined that these projects are technologically dysfunctional financial structures, while focusing particularly on Elbasan, which, according to him, was the starting point of the entire affair: " This is where everything started. The decisions of December 16, where 17 decisions were signed within one day to pave the way for the construction of the Elbasan incinerator, are blatant evidence of an organized affair ."
During the interview with "Syri Tv", he also criticized SPAK for inaction in the face of clear facts and public pressure: " Even though we have requested an investigation, even though the facts are before everyone's eyes, the Special Prosecution Office does not act. It is impossible to penetrate the territory of the incinerator, it is like Alcatraz, a high-security prison for justice ."
Boçi continued by saying that this fire is not only an ecological tragedy, but also an alarm signal about the depth of corruption that, according to him, has gripped Albanian institutions by the throat.
