Rama criticizes the protagonists of the protest: They want to make a career out
Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama has commented on the protests that have been taking place for 20 consecutive days in the capital, ironizing the protesters and those who, according to him, seek to build a political or public career through protest and social networks.

During the Socialist Party parliamentary group meeting, Rama said that protests and public debates are increasingly influenced by the logic of social media algorithms, where attention is gained through the most dramatic statements and catastrophic predictions.

According to the head of government, the protest is no longer just a form of civic reaction, but has become a "stage" and a "market" of emotions, clicks, and personal interests.

"The one who will make the strongest post, the one who will announce the closest catastrophe, the one who will announce the most cruel punishment, he is rewarded by the algorithm. And a protest is no longer a protest, it is a scene. It is a market. A market of emotions, clicks, a market of morality, even a market of careers," Rama said.

The Prime Minister reserved strong criticism for those who, according to him, aim to politically benefit from the protests, describing them as the most "ridiculous" in this entire process.

"But in all of this, those with careers are the funniest. They are funny because they have not yet understood that with the Socialist Party and with us, you cannot win by going out with a rusty spoon in the market of lost careers," he declared.
