Rama hits Lubonja: I am filing charges just like those who convicted you with
Lubonja and Rama

The Prime Minister rejected the accusations related to Aruba and said that unfounded claims are being presented as truth in the public space...

Prime Minister Edi Rama used the meeting of the Socialist parliamentary group to respond again to analyst Fatos Lubonja, who has long sought clarification regarding the so-called "Aruba meeting".

During his speech, Rama considered it unacceptable that accusations were being made against him without evidence and focused in particular on Lubonja's positions. The Prime Minister said that the analyst is behaving with the same approach that, according to him, was once used against Lubonja himself during the process that led to his imprisonment during the communist period.

According to Rama, in the history of legal systems, accusations are based on concrete facts and evidence. He reiterated that he has never been to Aruba and that he has not sent anyone there, adding that his denials are not being taken into consideration by those who continue to spread this claim.

The Prime Minister argued that the Aruba story has become a narrative that is widely circulated on social media and in public debate, despite the lack of evidence that, according to him, would support it.

Following the statement, Rama also mentioned other accusations that, according to him, have become part of the public discourse without any factual basis. He spoke about the allegations linking him to cocaine use, as well as allegations that have involved his family. According to the head of government, the constant repetition of these allegations has led to them being perceived by a part of the public as true.

Rama said that the phenomenon of information dissemination in the era of algorithms favors the creation of alternative versions of reality, where a claim can assume the status of fact even when it is not supported by evidence.

The prime minister's statements come at a time when the debate over the Aruba issue continues to return from time to time in political and media clashes, while Rama has consistently denied any connection to the allegations raised against him.
