All of this is a political arrogance of Edi Rama, who has taken Veliaj's "rebellion" personally.
Edi Rama is humiliating Tirana's socialist councilors into voting to dismiss Mayor Erion Veliaj, under the pretext that he did not show up for work.
The decision of the Tirana municipal council to dismiss Erion Veliaj is a shameful 'trick' with which Edi Rama seeks to remove the 'hot chestnut' from the fire.
Since the decision of the Municipal Council is a legal alibi for Edi Rama to politically dismiss Veliaj. The Tirana Municipal Council has no reason to dismiss a mayor who was elected by the votes of the citizens, but who also contributed to his (the council's) election.
The criminal case against Veliaj is a legal matter and without this issue being resolved, it is not up to anyone to decide except the employer himself.
While Erion Veliaj takes on the burden of the legal ordeal by declaring himself innocent of the charges against him, no political body has the courage, nor the morals, to speak out.
We are in a case where a person with fewer votes than Erion Veliaj, like Sali Berisha, is a defendant and holds the state office of deputy.
Edi Rama, for his part, is treating the Veliaj case with a double standard and completely devoid of any political, state, or human morality.
Edi Rama has had several similar cases where he has not announced early local elections. The most recent case is that of Fredi Beleri, arrested for electoral corruption, where the elections in the Himara municipality were held after two years, only after a final decision.
Meanwhile, in the case of Vangjush Dako and Valdrin Pjetri, where the individuals voluntarily resigned, Edi Rama did not take the appropriate decision of the Council of Ministers to declare the position vacant, so that the President of the Republic, then Ilir Meta, could declare early elections.
In the case of Vangjush Dako, the municipality of Durrës suffered a chaos of candidacies, resigning as a result of clan pressures, while in Shkodra, Voltana Ademi was left in office, even though she was blatantly outside the law.
Legally, Erion Veliaj's case is clearly resolved. If the municipal council decides to dismiss him and asks the government to seal the decision, the VKM is immediately annulled as soon as Veliaj appeals the decision to the Constitutional Court.
All of this is a political arrogance of Edi Rama, who has taken Veliaj's "rebellion" personally.
Who is in completely unequal conditions with his boss, as he is locked up in detention, even under strict regime.
He, the mayor of Tirana, has undertaken to wage a judicial battle, which he also considers moral. In principle, but also article by article, this battle does not harm either the municipality of Tirana or the Socialist Party. But only the ego of Edi Rama, who considers anyone acting outside his orders, is eliminated.
In reality, the only ones who are eliminated are the Tirana municipality councilors, who were selected and elected by Erion Veliaj, if they raise the card to dismiss him.
Because, as has happened in other cases, Rama will dismiss them at the earliest opportunity as 'squeezed lemons' who lack the dignity and morals to defend their political boss. Because what they do for Veliaj, they can do tomorrow for any other mayor, or even for Edi Rama himself./ Pamphlet
