The Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Dorian Teliti, said that the opposition's first objective is to officially remove Erion Veliaj as soon as possible.
Based on this objective, Teliti stated that right-wing councilors will vote without hesitation for Veliaj's dismissal when the majority proposal is brought to the Municipal Council on Friday.
" Our political goal is the dismissal of Erion Veliaj, not today, today is overdue. We wanted this not on February 10 when he was arrested, but months, years ago. We have held 44 protests for him to leave. From a legal perspective, let the lawyers speak. From a political perspective, Tirana has become a capital worthy only of a third world country. We will definitely vote for it, but the request must be in accordance with the law because it is not the responsibility of the opposition, because they are not taking our opinion into account, but the majority is obliged to complete the procedure. As the deputy chairman of the council, I have no problem with Veliaj coming forward and debating. When they bring the decision on Friday, they will take measures so that the procedure is correct. Our political objective is the removal of Erion Veliaj as soon as possible. Our final objective is his official removal. If the majority needs the opposition to remove Veliaj, we are ready, we will return Tirana its lost dignity, Veliaj is a model of theft, abuses ," Teliti said on "Euronews Albania."
