Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams needed a visit to Albania to obtain an Albanian passport. Although there are clear laws and regulations (many citizens from Kosovo have been applying for years and are not granted it), Adams took advantage of it with a single stroke of the pen.
Not that there is anything wrong with him taking our passport, but it seems like something is wrong. First, it is not that it is in his interest and many foreign media have been surprised by this, since Albania is a second-rate country.
Second, when such figures become Albanian, there is likely something else hidden behind them. There have been many cases where different individuals around the world have become Albanian to evade justice. We have the case of the famous Indian brothers.
Meanwhile, many others have used their passports to get closer to Edi Rama and his government. The most obvious case is that of Israeli Ron Yeffet.
" Pamphlet " published an exclusive document on Thursday, showing that Israeli Ron Yeffet was sued in the US for fraud. He took 8 million euros from a businessman, under the pretext that he would invest it in real estate, and in fact he did not make any investment. The lawsuit mentions Albania several times.
The document states that Yeffet organized several international trips by private jet, which included Albania, in addition to destinations such as Rome, Paris and the Caribbean islands. These trips, according to the lawsuit, were not simply social, but were intended to keep the investor engaged and convinced of the seriousness of the relationship and investments.
During this trip to Albania, according to the document, investments were discussed and guarantees were given for future developments. Another unusual element is also mentioned: the idea of providing an Albanian passport for the investor, which is described as a form of exclusive treatment to further strengthen trust.
“ He also floated the idea of possibly securing an Albanian passport for Faist, another gesture that appeared to be exclusive access and special treatment, calculated to maintain Faist’s trust and to assuage growing suspicions that he had not received any return on his investments ,” the lawsuit states.
So, this last part is the clearest evidence of what happens with passports. Even though there are laws and procedures, the Albanian passport is used for nothing by Edi Rama's friends. The passage above clearly proves that it is enough for someone to ask Babloku that they want a passport for "X" person, this matter is closed. Many can say that it is the president who issues the decree. In fact, almost all the names go to the president from the Ministry of Interior; it is the one who "stitches" the papers and the president ultimately has nothing to do.
Ron Yeffet himself received his Albanian passport in 2018, by decree of President Ilir Meta at the time. After he received his passport, he went into business in Albania. He has even been seen several times at the Prime Minister's Office, where he is said to have had private meetings with Edi Rama.
Ron Yeffet appeared in the Albanian public eye when the Albanian government, through KAYO and the Israeli company Elbit System, signed an agreement for the purchase of weapons and investments in the defense sector. Shortly after, this company was investigated by NATO member countries and excluded from tenders.
KAYO, founded in 2024 by the Albanian government, has created four other companies, two of which have Ron Yeffet as a shareholder.
One of the companies, created by KAYO with 20% of the shares and Ron Yeffet with Arjeta Puca with 80% of the shares through their company TIMAK, is the company TIMAK Defence.
Ron Yeffet is a partner in the company TIMAK, where he owns 49% of the shares and Arjeta Puca 51% of the shares.
The TIMAK company has so far received dozens of tenders from public institutions in the country, worth over 2 million euros. While the TIMAK Defence company has received 10 million euros from the state budget. So, a fraudster like Ron Yeffet has received millions from Albanian taxes. /Pamphlet
