Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the leader of the Socialist Party, was present at the meeting of the party's Assembly in unit no. 3 in Tirana, where he also brought to attention the jokes that were made fun of men during the electoral campaign.
Alongside Ogerta Manastirliu, who is also the political leader of the Socialists for Tirana, whom Rama launched as the SP candidate for the Municipality of Tirana a month ago, the Prime Minister has brought to attention a joke he used in Dibër, calling men "churky". Rama used this term referring to the fact that in unit no. 3, over 53% of the structures are women.
"In this unit, I think that the main reason, with all due respect to all the men here, even if the men were upset, let them be upset, because I am a man too, so we share the sadness together, the main reason for the increased result is the fact that there are 53% women here. Did you see Dibra? They all threw themselves at my throat: 'How do you say Çyryk to the men of Dibra? The men of Dibra will show you!' Dibra became like Vlora. I don't know, for a few votes, I don't know exactly how many, but we could have won the fourth mandate. Why? Because the men, the majority, went after the women," said Rama.
Rama's rant could also be a message to Erion Braçe, the Socialist MP who has offered himself as a possible candidate for the Municipality of Tirana. Braçe has stated that he expects an internal competition within the Socialist Party to determine the candidates for Mayor, speaking of a regular process in which the one who has the support of the structures should win.
But in fact, the process that Brace hopes for has not existed in the Socialist Party for over a decade, while Edi Rama seals everything, without waiting for a decision from the forums, which are in fact simply waiting to certify what Babloku previously signed.
And if Rama is serious about the SP's "victories" being more certain when women are protagonists, it seems that he will use the same strategy in choosing the Socialist candidate for the Municipality of Tirana.
